The Shadow Ledger

SCENE 1

A Curious Transaction

Late-night city bakery counter lit by neon sign — Marina Ellis snaps a photo from the doorway, capturing Giles Rourke slipping an envelope to a nervous Omar Torres across flour-dusted counters. Both men look tense, Marina partially hidden in shadows, streetlights glaring through glass.

SCENE 2

Piecing Together Evidence

Dimly lit apartment covered in notes and photos — Detective Laura Jain stands over Marina’s cluttered table, pointing at a diagram connecting the bakery to various cash drop sites, while Marina studies new police files, her face lit by the laptop’s glow.

SCENE 3

Warning at Sunrise

Deserted alley behind the bakery at dawn — Giles Rourke confronts Marina, looming beside her car, his glare icy. Early sunlight casts long shadows and Marina clutches her notepad protectively, tense and awaiting his next move.

SCENE 4

Omar’s Secret

Bakery storeroom stacked with sacks of flour — Omar Torres nervously unlocks a safe tucked behind baking supplies, hands shaking as he reveals coded ledgers to Detective Jain under a single swinging lightbulb.

SCENE 5

Danger Lurking

Dark street, city lights twinkling in drizzle — Marina walks briskly, files clutched tight, unaware of Giles's shadowy figure watching from a parked car. Rain slicks the pavement, the tension thick as the case hangs in the balance.
