Cold Shadows: Toronto's Lost Cases

SCENE 1

The Pinboard

Toronto police cold case division office, night — Detective Lina Mercado studies a cluttered corkboard filled with newspaper clippings and faded photos, city lights glowing through the blinds behind her.

SCENE 2

A Frozen Riverbank

Desolate, icy Don River shoreline at dawn — Officer Sarah Kirno points to a taped-off patch of snow while Detective Mercado kneels, inspecting a set of footprints frozen into the riverbank; distant skyline looms.

SCENE 3

City’s Secret Library

Dim, wood-paneled archive room beneath a Toronto library — Professor Eliot Bains leans over a dusty table covered in yellowed files, pushing spectacles up his nose as Mercado listens intently from across stacks.

SCENE 4

The Brass and the Past

Chief’s plush, high-floor office with wide downtown view — Chief Reddick stands rigidly at his desk, arms folded and face stern, while Mercado sets two battered folders on the desk defiantly.

SCENE 5

Epiphany Under Neon

Rainy Chinatown alley lit by neon shop signs, night — Detective Mercado, hood drawn, stands alone in puddles reflecting neon, her expression fierce as she studies a photo with new understanding.
